Personal Details

My name is Emmanuel Okorie as you would probably guessed by now. I am by profession a web designer who is trying to expand his expertise into other areas of media such as Digital Video, Photography and General Design.

I started using computers at the very early age of 11. Started off at school on a Commodore 64, then progressed to an Amiga where I started to learn different aspects of programming in Basic until I progressed to a 386 PC running Windows 3.1.

Through out my GSCE years, I learnt quite a lot when it came to programming. Visual Basic was mostly used and as my GSCE final year project, I ended up creating my own word processing software. Although pretty rudimentary, it gave me an insight of MDI forms and SDI forms as well as how object oriented programming was required.

This knowledge then progressed unto understanding networks, designing my first website (using Dreamweaver 1.0), learning about C and of course learning how to design in 3D using Cinema4D. Completed my A-Levels at this point after designing a Chemistry Revision software with QuestNet.

I went on to start a course in Computing Science at the Leeds Metropolitan University but ended up changing my mind as I felt the course was not just not right for me.

I then moved to do an HND in Multimedia & Web Development at The Langside College in Glasgow, during which time I learnt how to work with video, CD authoring and designing my first dynamic website in ASP (which I would like to point out was all self taught).

The University of Paisley gave me an opportunity to hone and improve my current skill set. I learnt and bit more about networks, gained some knowledge on CSS as well general web design practices. On days when I was not at university, I was taking the opportunity to learn more about designing database driven websites whether it be in ASP, PHP or Coldfusion.

Aims for the future?

Hmm... to gather as much knowledge as possible. You can never learn too much and I don't see having a lot of knowledge doing me any harm.

About My Website

Although Grafik Kaos was primarily designed to showcase my work, I have always felt that a web site should also be about selling yourself, your personality and hobbies. For this reason, you might find tutorials, blog articles on other topics such as mobile phones (love my mobile phones) and various tidbits on the odd occasion. I am however considering changing that.
